John Walter Patrick (1618)(1652)(1675)

John Walter Patrick

Our first ancestor known to have emigrated to the colonies was John Walter Patrick (b.1616 d.1675). He was born in Surrey, England and died at Charles Parish, York, Virginia Colony in 1675.  His father, John Oliver Patrick (b. 1590 d. 1657), remained in Surrey until his death.

John Walter Patrick (1616) married Mary Peters (b. 1616 d.1679). Their son, John Walter Patrick, II (b. 1652 d. 1678) was born in Charles Parish, York, Virginia Colony. John Walter Patrick III was born in 1675, also at Virginia Colony.  John Walter Patrick I (1616) and his sons, lived and died before the Colonial Revolution. All three men and their wives were born English citizens. There was no “United States” at that time. Those living in the “United British Colonies” were, for the most part, loyal to the crown of England. Little is known about them, as records from that period are difficult to obtain, if they still exist at all.

The domestic history of the Patrick family really begins with John Walter Patrick I (b.1616). There are numerous Patrick family branches descended from John Walter Patrick I, II, and III.
